There’s been a lot of fuss in the industry about a study that found 1 out of 4 small businesses hates social media.

Hmmm…

Well, never mind our first thought (which is 3 out of 4 small businesses like social media, that’s our eternal optimism again).

Our second thought was — Big deal.

When do you ever see complete agreement in a survey like that?

And by “survey like that”, we don’t mean “survey about social media”. We mean “survey where they ask people (the most contrary creatures who’ve ever existed) to answer the same question”.  (See why we went with “survey like that”? The other’s kinda wordy.)

Look around the internet for a few… We’ll wait.

One out of four brides hated their man’s proposal. One out of five employees hate their colleagues. One out of four democrats want rid of Obama…

Heck, they couldn’t even get five out of five dentists to recommend chewing sugarless gum!

Our point is just this–

Of course some small businesses hate social media. There are plenty of regular folk out there who hate it, too. That fact has almost zero bearing on social media overall. Nothing is universal.

Besides, even some of those who hate it will eventually buckle down and do it anyway.
