Instagram stories are growing in popularity, primarily with the twenty-thirty year old demographic, and brands are taking notice. Ready to start using stories? Keep reading for a brief introduction and tutorial on how to rock your Instagram with stories.
How are brands using Instagram stories? Primarily businesses are using stories for product promotions and inside looks. If you want to take your Instagram to the next level and start attracting new customers, stories are a must-have feature. Not only do stories garner more attention, but they add a professional, advanced look to your Instagram Profile.
While Instagram users are slowly adopting the story feature, they are predicted to be customary in the future for most users. Once users get over the story feature learning curve, story mode will be universally employed by most businesses.
Instagram stories have a lot of utility for businesses. By using the story feature, you remain visible on the top of your followers’ feeds for the 12 hour period while your story is live. You can then “highlight” your story to promote it on your Instagram profile and create an introduction to your products and services. Think of the story mode as a way to highlight your business’s top qualities and services.
Instagram stories are also employed to drive users off of Instagram to a particular page for conversions. The top destinations businesses use stories to drive followers to are a shoppable page, other social media, blog post, campaign page, or app. And now, advertisers can purchase ads within stories.
What are the fundamentals of using stories? Follow the steps below to start rocking Instagram!
Click on your profile photo on the top left where it says “Your Story.”
You can either film a brief clip right on the spot or add a custom story you previously filmed. It’s probably best to err on the side of caution and pre-film your story. This allows you to edit the story and customize it in advance to make sure it suits your needs. Once you’re in this mode, choose your camera roll in the bottom left; then select your video.
Click on the “Send To” Button on the bottom right to send to your Instagram Story OR you can send your story to a connection on Instagram.
You can allow your story to expire after publication, or you can highlight the story so it will remain on the top of your Instagram profile. In order to highlight your story, open the story up again in your feed. Then click “Highlight” in the bottom right corner.
After selecting “Highlight,” you can add a title to this clip. Remember that this title will remain visible on the top of your Instagram Profile until you delete it. You also want to keep your title brief so it doesn’t crop it off on your Profile.
Now your profile will have a professional looking section of “highlights” at the top. You can use this section to add your services or other important messages about your organization. You can also add to any highlight section newer stories or continue to add highlights.
